LA County Sheriff Robert Luna Endorses Rep. George Whitesides for Re-Election During National Police Week

AGUA DULCE, CA – Today, Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna endorsed Rep. George Whitesides (CA-27) for his first re-election to the United States House of Representatives.

“I’m proud to endorse George Whitesides for re-election to the U.S. Congress,” said Sheriff Luna. “In his first year in the House of Representatives, George has fought to bring home resources that make our communities safer, and been a strong voice supporting our brave men and women in law enforcement. George secured $1 million in federal funding for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station for a mobile command center, and donated his own money to protect officers in our Lancaster station. He’s been a vocal advocate for our region’s first responders — pushing to make sure we have the tools we need to respond to emergencies. I look forward to continuing my partnership with George in the next term to keep Northern LA County safe and secure.”

“I’m proud to receive the endorsement of Sheriff Luna, and will continue to push resources and support towards our local law enforcement, who work around the clock to keep us safe,” said Rep. George Whitesides. “In my first term, I’m proud to have worked with the Sheriff to bring back millions in federal funding to provide modern equipment and infrastructure to stations and departments across our region. As we prepare for some of the biggest events our area has seen – including the Olympics, the Super Bowl, and the World Cup – it is critical that we have a strong, well-resourced law enforcement. I’m committed to continuing this partnership with Sheriff Luna and fighting for the funding, tools, and support our deputies and officers deserve.”

In his first term, Whitesides secured $1 million for a new mobile command center at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, which he pushed for after working alongside Sheriff’s leadership during the January 2025 wildfires. Additionally, he brought home $1 million in advanced equipment for the Lancaster Police Department. After touring the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station, he personally donated money to build a partition to protect officers in the station.
